Fire safety checks.
A practical review of your premises by a fire alarm engineer. We identify what is wrong, say what should be done and tell you honestly what you do not need.
A professional look at what you have.
We visit the premises and review your existing fire alarm and fire safety arrangements as they actually are. We identify obvious areas of concern, compare what is installed with what the building and its use need and give you practical, prioritised recommendations in writing.
The aim is that you understand where you stand and what to do, not that you buy something.
What we check
- The fire alarm: type, condition, coverage against the layout, panel status, faults, records and last service
- Logbook and documents: certificates, zone plan, test records and who is responsible
- Extinguishers and blankets: the right types, in the right places, in date, signed and accessible
- Emergency lighting and exit signs: present, working and tested
- Escape routes: obstructions, wedged fire doors, locked exits and signage
- Changes since installation: extensions, partitions, new tenants or a change of use
What you get
A written summary: what we found, how serious each item is and what we recommend, in order of priority. Where something is working properly, we say so. Where you do not need a product, we say that too.
What this is notA fire safety check is not a fire risk assessment under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which the responsible person must have and keep under review. If you need a formal assessment, we will say so and point you to a competent assessor. See your responsibilities.

Common questions.
What is the difference between a fire safety check and a fire risk assessment?
A fire risk assessment is the formal assessment of fire risk that the responsible person must carry out and review under fire safety law. A fire safety check is a practical review of your fire alarm and equipment, which helps you act on the findings. It does not replace the assessment.
How long does a check take?
A small premises takes an hour or two. Larger buildings take longer, and we tell you in advance.
Do I have to buy anything afterwards?
No. The report is yours, and you can act on it with anyone.
Do you do fire safety checks outside Somerset?
Yes. Bath and Bristol are routine, and we travel further by arrangement.
